What a fantastic find! Been back twice since my first visit and it’s consistently superb. The food is all prepared after you order, so be prepared to wait but know that the wait is worth it! The portions are extremely generous and the flavours are incredible. I highly recommend the breakfasts where you get a little bit of everything but order extra bread and extra falafel because their falafel are kind blowingly good and even though they give you 5 you’ll still be craving more! Hot, herby almost buttery taste. Sublime! Staff are incredibly friendly and the owner does the cooking so is personally invested in seeing that everything is perfect. Good central location and incredibly reasonably priced. A restaurant I’d love to see flourish. Exactly what Newport needed. Fresh, fun and fabulous.

Went there Friday afternoon with some friends and the food really is something special: I ordered the Foul (£4.00, pronounced 'fool'), a fava bean and tahini dish and the Kebda Iskandarani (£9.50, marinated strips of liver with onions and red pepper). Both were absolutely delicious: the Foul was warm, earthy and unctuous. Difficult to believe that they could get so much flavour from just beans! the Kebda was equally delicious, with great spicing and tender, melt-in-your-mouth strips of liver... I can't stop thinking about It! My friends also had the Foul and the Felafel, which were crispy on the outside and moist and garlicky on the inside, not like the dry, cardboard offerings from the supermarkets. They were served with real, homemade hummus, which was smooth, not like the gritty stuff we're used to. Everything was served with freshly made yeasty, creamy Balady bread (although rice and chips are an option) and all the dishes we had were just as freshly made as the Balady bread. Looking at the menu, there are so many dishes that I want to try: The Koshari (a bed of rice, chickpeas, pasta and their special tomato sauce, which can be served topped with Felafel, grilled Halloumi or any of the meat options on the menu) looks really interesting... I can't wait to go back again...
