We were killing time before a lunch booking across the road - Whitley Bay is really such a good place for food to purchase and food to sit down and enjoy - and so only ordered coffee.
This didn't prevent me, however, from positively drooling over the selection of cakes and pastries that we could have chosen to accompany our, very tasty, coffee; combinations of flavours and styles that were so unusual and a far cry from the standard, muffin / brownie / cookie type of choice.
Our hosts bought bread, which we had the following day - nutty and delicious; I can see why this is such a popular spot and would love to revisit for a full blow out on the cake front.
There is a small amount of seating for those who want to take their time over coffee and accompaniments, but coffee is served in eco-friendly disposable travel friendly containers, so takeout is a good option too.
Well worth a visit, buy a huge bag of goodies, indulge in a coffee and go and sit by the beach and have the ultimate picnic.
